185 games! Araujo ranks 11th in Barcelona’s South American appearance list, only 1 game away from Neymar.

Barcelona's official website pointed out that Ronald Araujo is only one game away from entering the top ten of Barça's American players. If he plays against Elche, the central defender will tie Neymar's appearance record.

Ronald Araujo is only one step away from entering the top ten appearances of American players in Barcelona's history. The Uruguayan centre-back could equal Neymar's record of 186 appearances against Elche next Sunday. Leo Messi leads the list, which also includes historic players such as Ronaldinho, Rivaldo and Luis Suarez.

Araujo made his Barcelona debut against Sevilla on October 6, 2019. The game was a mixed bag for the player because he was sent off with a red card in the 87th minute. Since that day, Araujo has played a full 185 games in seven seasons, with both unforgettable moments of glory and several serious injuries that kept him out of the lineup for long periods of time. Still, he's on track to make history this Sunday and join this laudable top-10 list.

This player hopes to continue writing his career in Barcelona. He is already the Uruguayan player with the third most appearances in the club's history. He currently trails only fellow country legends Luis Suarez (283 games) and Ramon Alberto Villaverde (224 games).

Leo Messi leads the list of Barcelona's American players with a record of 778 appearances. Araujo still has a long way to go before reaching this number. The Argentinian superstar is in fact the most capped player in the club's history.
