He said his only regret was ending his relationship with Lakers owner Jeanie Buss. He revealed that this relationship was under pressure from the NBA after he took charge of the Knicks, and they canceled their engagement under pressure.

"I warned her that I didn't think our relationship could handle this and I wasn't going to take the job," Jackson said, "and she said 'Don't worry, we're going to be fine.'" But she came under pressure from the league because they were worried about the possibility of collusion between the owners and team presidents.

According to reports, the contract Phil Jackson signed with the Knicks at the time was $60 million.
