Lukaku's father Roger Lukaku died at the age of 58.

The Belgian national team issued a statement: "After Roger Lukaku's death, our thoughts and prayers are with Lukaku's family."

Roger Lukaku was a professional football player in the Democratic Congo, playing as a striker, and mainly played in the B.A. League One, and represented the national team in the 1994 World Cup qualifiers and the 1994 and 1996 African Cup finals.
