Riyadh Victory official statement: Opposing the Saudi Football Association’s mid-season changes to U21 foreign aid rules

Riyadh Victory Club issued an official statement. The club expressed deep concern about the recent attempt by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation to modify the registration rules for foreign U21 players.

The statement said:

These attempts failed during the summer transfer window as clubs rejected proposals for last-minute rule changes. The club has been informed of new developments that could push for this change in the upcoming transfer window.

Changing the rules mid-season or during the transfer window seriously damages the credibility and integrity of the league and undermines fair competition and the basis of trust that sustains the competition. Since the rules were approved, we have followed them to the letter, planning, contracting responsibly and acting professionally. Clubs that follow the rules should not be penalized for sudden, reactive decisions.

We publicly call on all decision-makers to protect the integrity of the Saudi League and resist any pressure that serves personal interests. No one club takes precedence over the collective good. Additionally, with all the controversy surrounding refereeing this week, although we have been affected by some calls, we see the entire game at risk.

The Saudi League is a symbol of global ambition and excellence, supported by the entire country. Every decision must meet this standard - fairness, transparency and respect for the game.

The Club reserves the right to take necessary legal action. If any rules are changed or implemented during the season without the consent of all Clubs, this will be considered a serious breach of the principles of sporting integrity and equal competition.
