Barcelona official: La Liga 9th round against Girona will be held at Montsch, postponing its return to Camp Nou
Barcelona issued an official statement that the ninth round of La Liga against Girona on October 18 will continue to be held at the Olympic Stadium in Montjuic instead of the Nou Camp.
The statement explained that although the club is expected to soon obtain the first phase (1A) license that allows accommodating 27,000 spectators, the board of directors has decided to wait until the second phase (1B) license capable of accommodating 45,000 spectators is also approved before officially returning to Camp Nou.
The club gave three main reasons for this decision: first, the approval time for the two phases of licenses is expected to be very close; second, this can leave more sufficient time for the full operational testing of the new stadium; finally, the current Montjuic Olympic Stadium can bring higher revenue than the previous Cruyff Stadium.
In addition, the club informed members that starting from the game against Girona, admission to the remaining games of the season will use a new "pass system", specific details will be announced in the next few days.
